Blackstock Family Foundation Scholarship Fund

Deadline: February 28th

Purpose

Provide scholarships for Georgia students seeking a degree or certification in the fields of (a) health care with an emphasis on serving individuals with special needs and/or (b) STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) related courses and/or (c) special education.

Eligibility Criteria

  •  Resident of the State of Georgia
  • Preference will be given to students from Upson County, Georgia
  • Graduating High School Senior or Currently Enrolled Post-Secondary Education Students
  • Pursing a degree in a Healthcare or STEM field
  • Must have a 2.7 cumulative GPA

Selection Criteria

Recipients will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Financial Need
  • Academic Performance/Merit,
  • Community Involvement
  • Extracurricular Activities
  • Letters of Recommendation, and/or personal interviews.

Additional Short Answer Questions

The Blackstock Family Foundation Scholarship Fund will request the following additional information:

  • A short essay describing your career plans.
  • Provide the name and email address of one person who has agreed to submit a letter of recommendation for you. This should be a teacher, mentor, advisor, counselor, coach or work supervisor. Once you have submitted your application, the person will receive an email from the Community Foundation requesting the recommendation. Please request the recommendation before submitting the person’s email address and notify him/her when you have submitted your application.

Amount of Award: Varies

Number of Awards: At least one new award per year.

Renewal for Prior Recipients: A prior recipient of this scholarship fund is eligible to renew the award each subsequent year of his/her education career for up to four years. To renew, he/she must complete all the required follow-ups assigned by the CFCG Scholarship Director and adhere to the above scholarship fund eligibility criteria.

If a prior recipient does not maintain the eligibility criteria or faces unique circumstances that require him/her to take time off or take a reduced course load for a semester, the student should contact the Community Foundation to determine if he/she is eligible for continued funding.
