The Community Foundation of Central Georgia announces $346,500 in grants to 25 local nonprofit organizations through the Nonprofit Grant Program. Grants from the program provide funding to nonprofits working to enhance the quality of life for the people of Central Georgia.
Funding supports a wide range of services across more than eight Central Georgia counties. This round of Nonprofit Grants includes:
Baldwin County
Georgia College & State University Foundation: $20,000
For the Depot Civil Rights Exhibit at GCSU.
Lockerly Arboretum: $12,500
To help purchase fencing to secure the Lockerly property.
Bibb County
Central Georgia Council, Boy Scouts of America #906: $20,000
For its violence prevention program – Enhancing Character and Social Life of Youth in Public Housing.
Depaul USA – Macon: $18,000
For the Daybreak Resource Center and Sheridan Health Center to continue their work serving people experiencing poverty and homelessness in Macon.
Georgia Music Foundation: $7,000
For the Macon Music Revue.
Macon Hope: $12,500
To expand First Tee Community Partnerships to empower more youth through golf.
Macon Outreach at Mulberry: $20,000
To provide a challenge grant to encourage other community members to support the feeding program.
Macon Volunteer Clinic: $20,000
To create a care manager position to provide case management for patients with an elevated care load.
Middle Georgia State University: $20,000
To enhance the Department of Nursing’s curriculum to include additional simulation hours for students.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Georgia: $6,500
For its continuum of care program, which helps identify, understand and address social needs families have before, during and after their children receive hospital care.
Coffee County
City of Douglas: $12,500
To enhance Veterans Park.
Houston County
Central Georgia Technical College Foundation: $20,000
For the Career Training Pilot program in partnership with Central Georgia Medical Care Network.
Buttons and Threads Thrift Store: $15,000
For the Threads of Hope project, which aims to install mobile collection bins at two key locations to gather donated items.
Family Promise of Greater Houston County: $6,000
For the expansion/renovation of Grace Village.
Georgia Kinship Project: $6,000
To expand its outreach services for relative caregivers to provide case management.
Houston County Volunteer Medical: $14,000
To refresh and update the clinic and its equipment.
Jasper County
American Legion Post 110: $15,000
To replace the dilapidated windows in its nearly 80-year-old building.
Lamar County
Gordon State College Foundation: $17,000
For its Laptop Lending Program, which aims to provide access to laptops for students who cannot afford personal laptops.
Peach County
Rehoboth Life Care Ministries: $12,500
For its dental services program, as the organization works to improve oral health for uninsured adults in central Georgia.
Putnam County
Georgia Writers Museum: $14,500
To renovate its education/presentation facility.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors: $15,000
For home repairs for seniors, children, single working mothers and their children, military veterans, developmentally and/or physically challenged individuals, and low-income families.
Multiple Counties
Georgia Healthy Family Alliance: $8,500
To provide Middle Georgia schools with the Tar Wars program, an evidence-based, youth anti-tobacco/anti-vaping education and awareness program.
Humanitarian Gang: $7,500
For its annual Thanksgiving Food Drive.
Make-A-Wish Georgia: $8,500
To help provide wishes to 67 children in Middle Georgia waiting for their wishes to be granted.
United Way of Central Georgia: $20,000
For its First Steps & Parents as Teachers Program to help parents help their children thrive.
Funding for these annual grants comes from unrestricted funds, made possible by individual donors who have given generously to support the ever-changing needs of the community. Funding allocations are determined by CFCG’s Grants Committee and recommended to the CFCG Board of Directors for approval. CFCG manages grant application cycles throughout the year.
