Simmons Charitable Trust Fund
Mrs. Betty Sweet Simmons was the very first contributor to the Foundation in 1993, and she could not have imagined a better way to assist the charitable causes and project she loved than by creating a donor advised fund at the Community Foundation of Central Georgia.
“They are so very good to me,” she says. “The Foundation has grown so beautifully. I know they work with people who contribute much, much more than I do, but they always make me feel special.”
Mrs. Simmons first heard about the good work of the Foundation at an information meeting. Learning that her contributions would assist community-based projects, she trusted CFCG and transferred fund to create the Simmons Charitable Trust Fund.
A long-time supporter of the arts and a philanthropist of countless charitable causes, Mrs. Simmons received great satisfaction knowing that she could make one gift to her fund at CFCG, and then communicate her wishes for its distributions.
She said one of the best things about a donor advised fund is she can support many interests with a modest amount of money and add to it over time. “I think it’s truly wonderful making those kinds of dreams come true.”
“I recommend setting up a donor advised fund at CFCG to anyone interested in the betterment of our community. Being a part of it all has been so meaningful to me, especially knowing that my family can continue the works I have put in place after I’m gone. It is my legacy to them,” said Betty Sweet Simmons.
