The Marianne L. Pattan Fund
Marianne L. Pattan, PhD made a bequest to the Community Foundation to benefit the Friends of the Middle Georgia Regional Library, and she passed away in 2004. Her bequest designated the funds for the Library’s Summer Reading Program, which reaches thousands of children each year.
Cathy Clark, former president of Friends of the Library, said such bequests are gratefully received by her organization, and it is a plus to have the corpus so skillfully managed by the Community Foundation. This endowment helps the Library offer many exciting programs through the Summer Reading Program each year.
“My wife was an avid reader. She found great solace in reading widely in both professional literature and fiction. Her bequest was to help others also become avid readers.” — Dr. John Pattan, Marianne’s husband
