Thiele Kaolin Scholarship Recipient
“Understanding people is a must. I recently just graduated this spring with a Bachelors in Psychology. I chose Psychology because it’s such a broad subject. It is in everything no matter what it is. It has recently been a part of STEM and it is considered a STEM major. You can do a lot with that.
My future goal is to be a psychiatric nurse. I hope to pursue a career in nursing.
Dealing with people and giving back to the community is something that I love.
I was in an organization in high school that was designed to help teenagers and educate them on safe sex and teaching them the foundations of life in all areas, from professional to personal. It is what started my interest in psychology.
Fort Valley has always been a second home to me. I have family members down there, and I love the environment also. They welcomed me with open arms at orientation. You get to interact not only with the student body, but you also get to know your teachers on a better level than some universities.
The scholarship I received is designed for individuals whose family members work for the company. Thiele Kaolin is basically a family company and my father and grandfather both work for this company.

This scholarship was passed down to me as a third generation college student who didn’t work for the company, but had the opportunity to obtain the scholarship because of my family members. They granted me opportunities to gain income for the summer. I love Thiele Kaolin and what it stands for.
I was in doubt that I was going to obtain the scholarship because a lot of people work for this company….I was doubtful Thiele Kaolin would grant me this scholarship. Thiele Kaolin has always been there whenever we need them, from finance to everything.
The scholarship meant a whole lot. It was a blessing in disguise.”
