Catherine Stewart Jones Fund
A graduate of Miller High School, Randolph Macon Women’s College and Columbia University, Ms. Jones taught English for 17 years in Bibb County. An only child with no children of her own, Ms. Jones lived a very frugal life, but invested early in the Coca-Cola Company. She was known to spend hours in the Genealogy department of the Washington Library researching her family history. She was also described as meticulous and precise by those who knew her best. Following her death in March of 1997, Ms. Jones left the majority of her estate to the Community Foundation to benefit the citizens of Macon for years to come.
