The Thiele Kaolin Higher Education Scholarship Fund

The Thiele Kaolin Higher Education Scholarship Fund was created in appreciation for the outstanding work of Thiele's employees and to encourage their children and grandchildren to further their education.

Thiele Kaolin is one of the world's leading sources for processed kaolin clay, with facilities in North America and Europe. Thiele mines, processes, blends and delivers the full spectrum of kaolin coating and filler pigments.


The purpose of the Thiele Kaolin Higher Education Scholarship Fund is to help children and grandchildren of current and retired employees of Thiele Kaolin pursue higher education. 


Applicants must be children or grandchildren of current or retired employees of Thiele Kaolin.

Enrolled at, or acceptance to, an accredited public or private college or university or technical school, pursuing an associate, undergraduate or graduate degree.

Applicants may be graduating high school seniors or current college students.

A minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA is required.

Please note, family members of the donors to the fund are ineligible to apply.


Applicants will be selected based on the following:

Demonstrated Financial Need (70%)

Involvement in civic and extra-curricular activities (10%)

Honors and Awards received (10%)

Academic Performance / GPA (10%)


As part of the online application process applicants will be asked to upload the following:

A resume listing your school and community activities.

A copy of your most recent unofficial high school or college transcript.

A copy of your FAFSA Student Aid Report that indicates the value of your Expected Family Contribution (EFC).


Number of awards: Varies, typically 4- 8 awards

Amount of award: Approximately $2,500

Renewals:  This scholarship is not renewable, however prior recipients may re-apply each year by completing the full application.

The Scholarship Selection Committee will be comprised of three representatives of the Community Foundation of Central Georgia.  The committee will recommend the recipient(s) based on selection criteria and the Community Foundation of Central Georgia will send the recommendation to the CFCG Executive Committee for approval.  If approved, the scholarship disbursement will be made directly to the educational institution(s) for the benefit of the scholarship recipient(s).
