The Carrie Johnson Wheeler Endowment for Animal Welfare
Deadlines: June 30 and December 31
Ozzy was rescued from an Atlanta, Georgia parking lot in 2003. He was only four weeks old and weighed only a few ounces. He was anemic and covered in fleas. His right eye had been destroyed and he had been abandoned and left to die. In fact, he was so close to death that flies had already begun to lay eggs in his fur. However, Ozzy's story did not end that day ten years ago. Today, he is a healthy and much loved boy who rules his household. We cannot think of a better rescue story or any animal who is more deserving of having a Fund named in his honor.
The purpose of Ozzy's Fund is to support initiatives which directly affect the lives of animals within the middle Georgia area. The fund should be used to promote the welfare of animals of all kinds and facilitate projects within the scope of the following areas:
- Animal Adoption
- Preventing Animal Cruelty
Grants will be considered for any nonprofit group whose mission is animal rescue and adoption, spay/neuter or TNR. However, programs directed towards public awareness (education), media/marketing campaigns and fund raising will not be covered by the fund.
Grant applicants must be providing direct service to animals but are not limited to organizations in Central Georgia.
Grant amounts may vary, but will not usually exceed $2,500.
CFCG will review grant applications semi-annually in July and January. If you have an emergency need that cannot wait until the next deadline, please contact the Foundation office at (478) 750-9338 or via email at email@example.com. The application deadlines are June 30th and December 31st at 5:00pm.
